Weihrauch, Weihrauch, Olibanum (von lat. oleum libani, „Öl der Weihrauchstaude”), der eingetrocknete Wundbalsam von Pflanzen der Art Boswilla, der in arabischen Ländern in Form von gelben Harztropfen geerntet wird. Schon bei den Ägyptern und Babyloniern war der Gebrauch des Weihrauchs als Räuchermittel verbreitet. Neben  Gold und  Myrrhe eins der drei Geschenke der  Heiligen Drei Könige an das  Christkind.

frankincense, Olibanum (f. Latin oleum libani, ”oil of the frankincense tree“), the dried wound balm of the Boswellia variety, which is harvested in Arabic countries in the shape of yellow resin drops. Among Egyptians and Babylonians frankincense was already familiar incense. Next to  Gold and  Myrrhe, it is one of the three gifts by the Three Kings ( Heiligen Drei Könige) to the Christ-child ( Christkind).
